Tell us about your journey with Argon Capital Advisors.

With two decades of work experience in investment banking and advisory landscape, my professional journey started with Equity Capital Markets as an Equity Analyst right after passing out of B-School. The thrill of going right on my investment bets every time motivated me to gravitate towards investment banking and corporate advisory practice, where the valuation game and getting the investment story right was and has been the most thrilling and passionate. Today, after two decades, my expertise lies in transaction advisory (fundraising and M&A), business valuations (both public and private companies), fundraising, M&A, commercial and business due-diligence, feasibility studies, business plan, and formulating growth, expansion, optimization and restructuring strategies. In the Investment Banking and Advisory landscape, I have worked across sectors such as healthcare, hospitality & tourism, education, retail, consumer goods (durable and non-durable), food & beverage, e-commerce platforms (across sectors), cement & infrastructure, real estate, construction materials and BFSI across geographies.

Today, I voice my opinion about industries and business & finance through an invitation on various seminars, conferences and webinars, expert/thought leader quotes on Euromoney Asia journal, interviews and guest columns on industry journals, and articles on various provocative topics appearing on knowledge portals. I have also authored numerous white papers on interest rates, managing inflation, valuation methodologies, financial architecture, capital structure, due diligence and the impact of digitization on the speed of business, among others.

Argon is an end-to-end advisory services company and offers a wide spectrum of services in Investment Banking, Corporate Advisory and Business Advisory to clients across sectors from start-ups to mature stage companies. The Investment Banking Practice focuses on Fund Raising (Equity & Debt) and M&A advisory across the deal life-cycle. We are sector and stage agnostic, and also very flexible on the ticket size of the transaction, and cater to our clients with a network of more than 300 institutional investors globally that gives us access to incubation fund, seed fund, angel investors, VCs, and PEs – for early stage, growth stage and mature-stage investments – within the investor fraternity.

The Corporate Advisory Practice ensures that the clients have the tools to ensure that they are not only focused on their core expertise but also to ensure they weed out unwanted inefficiencies in the system, maximize their earnings by optimizing sales and productivity, and are able to unlock the value. These solutions are carefully crafted and include business valuation, due diligence, restructuring, project feasibility and value unlocking, among others.

The Business Advisory Practice is a high-end consulting service and helps clients in performance improvement, scalability & expansion, identify gaps through benchmarking, 1800 business transformation, and go-to-market on a global footprint.

What role technology has to play in your area of work?

Technology is not an option any more for any business category, let alone Argon. Today, we are going almost paperless with digital contracts/documents/signature. The biggest advantage of technology is that today our workstation/work-desk is not location-specific anymore. With remote logins and secured cloud servers, the whole world has become our office space, and our work never gets impacted because of us being (or not being) in certain locations. This is helping us to serve our clients better and far exceed the SLAs.

Share some of the major challenges faced by your industry today.

Some of the major challenges would include – a) client awareness in terms of data transparency and MIS, b) client awareness on streamlining of data, c) client awareness on the importance of business plan & strategy, d) client awareness on the importance of legal and ethical clearance, e) negotiation on valuation with investors, and d) client preparedness on due diligence.

Your take on collaboration with Moneyedge

Moneyedge is a pivotal player in the financial services ecosystem that includes equity, debt and portfolio management, among others, and has a strong network of clientele (HNIs and institutions) and distribution network. We see a huge synergy from this collaboration that would be mostly in the deal sourcing stage and occasionally in the deal closure stage. This will fast-track many of Argonʼs mandates by leveraging on Moneyedgeʼs relationship network.
